Artist Mary Rogas (Malu), is an eclectic, multi disciplinary artist with an evolving style. Early into 2022, Malu rediscovered her passion for art, beginning with charcoal and photorealism. Malu branched out and experimented with different mediums including watercolor, gouache, soft pastels, and acrylics. Favorite medium is acrylics and the range of work is from florals to figurative. Malu was an art major at University of Houston until life took her elsewhere.
She retired from ExxonMobil after 32 years and now pursues her passion as an artist. Her artist statement: Malu is on a quest to represent her life and learnings through various mediums. Advocating for victims of abuse and learning and focusing on mental health through her artwork that shines a light in the dark. She donates to various charities and supports these causes.
In November 2022, Malu’s work titled “Below the Surface” was awarded Bronze at Camelback Gallery Abstract competition. The piece is part of the “Boundaries” series which encompasses abstract art. In January 2023 Malu’s piece titled “Only In Dreams” was a finalist in Camelback Gallery for “My Best Work of 2022” competition.
She is a featured artist on Saatchiart and now calls Art Machine Gallery, Houston, Texas her home.
