Born and raised a native Texan, Yvonne was born in San Antonio and has resided in Houston for 25 years. Her love for painting started as a child and was nurtured by her long line of creative family members. A 3rd generation Hispanic in Texas, Yvonne’s family history ranges from those in the political realm of the Mexican Revolution to those that were graced with the creative ability to master music, the arts and entertainment for their village. Artists, Architects, Musicians and Singers was what Yvonne was exposed to in life. This encouraged Yvonne to appreciate the arts and her historical culture from folkloric to Tex Mex. Yvonne makes her home in Texas and embraces all it has to offer.
As an emerging artist in Houston, I use my ability to see through my minds eye and pull my creativity out to paint what I see. Everywhere I look, it’s all a brush stroke to me. With 35 years of corporate work experience, I didn’t want to waste anymore time. I’m at the point in life where I can explore my passion. As a self taught artist, I had to rely on myself to explore the world of art and teach myself discipline and learn to rely on my own creativity.
I started with watercolor, my first love, but found myself lost when it came to any other medium, especially acrylic. Now, my love for acrylics has brought my art to a new level and I’m still learning and reaching new heights every day. My love of the human face leads me down paths of emotion, strength, fantasy and love of color and texture. It’s something I do everyday and if not, I’m thinking about it. No matter the talent or strength, manifestation is the key to my painting. accomplishments. We’re only here for a short time, and there is no time like the present to do what you’re passionate about.
