I am an abstract modern artist who lives and works in Houston, Texas. “I have expressed myself through art since childhood; my earliest memory of painting was using my mother’s lipstick on the walls when I was seven”. Although I have always produced art, I only began work full time as an artist about twenty years ago. I primarily work in mixed media.
My artistic career can be characterized as a life-long experimentation with non-objectivity, using biomorphic forms and semi-abstracted objects, as expressed through my paintings and ceramics. “Abstract art allows me to capture my feelings, emotions and experiences, rather than specific people or objects”.
Alexis is a self taught artist and dabbles in a variety of medium ranging from acrylic to a bit of this and that, including neon. There is this “urban edge” to her work that gives her soft impressionistic application a bit of grit. Her strong use of color makes her often surprising subject matter jump with electricity. Literally.
Alexis makes you feel the energy of vibrant city life. She blends traditional techniques with whimsical elements creating an edge between innocence, beauty and mystery. Her secret ingredient is texture and that makes for good art.
She is a member of many reputable Houston art associations and currently is exhibiting her works at Art Machine Gallery in the Silos at Sawyer Yards. She has shown in a multitude of art events and competitions in Houston and other parts of Texas. We look forward to her continued success and fresh ideas.
